Hi! @tburgess62, thanks for the reply.

I have checked the specifications of your laptop and the unit was shipped with windows 7 there are no drivers available for windows 10.

However, you can try installing generic synaptic drivers from the synaptic link.

Let me know if this works!

Hi! @tburgess62, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand that the mouse cursor disappeared after the reset.

Try few steps mentioned below.

  1. Hit your windows button so the pop-up menu appears
  2. Type in mouse& TouchPad setting. Your computer will search for it
  3. After selecting find "additional mouse options at the bottom of the screen
  4. Select the last tab. This should be the built-in mouse pad.
  5. Select "enable device". This should highlight your mouse pad or "smart pad"

Refer this article to further troubleshoot touchpad issues: http://hp.care/2cqlt1f

If the issue still persists please provide the product number of your laptop.

I will try to find the best drivers for you the laptop

Please let me know the outcome.

Have a great weekend! 🙂

Can I do this procedure with a wireless mouse? I have one, it just needs a battery. Hope you have a great weekend too! 😀

I have good news and bad news. The good news is the wireless mouse works great! The bad news is the driver for my mouse and touchpad seems to have disappeared totally! Doesn't even show up under device manager. Everywhere I look for a driver wants me to pay for a scan or something. Is there anything we can do? Thanks in advance. You've been such a big help already.
