Hi,
My kids each have an x360 and I'd like to get them stylus pens for the touchscreens. The models are:
HP Pavilion 11-n020nz x360
HP Pavilion x360 13-a040nz
I think the 13-a040nz needs an 1MR94AA pen, but I can't find any info for the 11-n020nz. Could anyone advise please? The HP virtual assistant freezes at the last step without confirming or denying the existence of a suitable stylus.
Also, we already have a Bamboo stylus and I'm wondering if that would work as well as an HP pen?
Many thanks

HP Pavilion 11-n020nz x360 PC K1G69EA
HP Pavilion 13-a040nz x360 Convertible PC J0C94EA
Both products introduced 2014
There are no HP active stylus pens listed for either model.
The "Compatibility" document was pulled a while ago (2019?) - it is no longer available.
You did the right think by checking with the Virtual Agent - in this case, though, it could not find the information.
I suspect something missing in its software could not clear the "not found" error (that's a guess based on having used it).
Will a different brand stylus work?
Unknown. Based on the configuration and age of the device(s), I'd guess Not.

I meant to say, I have trawled the forum for half a morning and have followed dozens of links to a compatibility chart, all ending "404" and I've read a lot of comments from people who have bought incompatible pens so would prefer to get it right first time. Does anyone have a table that lists which of the seven HP pens goes with which HP laptop? It shouldn't be this hard HP!

So to solve this I've bought an HP Pavilion x2 12-b000 series laptop on the basis of the following review, which describes the HP digitiser pen that it uses, right the way down to its sensitivity across the touchscreen.
https://www.notebookcheck.net/HP-Pavilion-x2-12-Convertible-Review.172077.0.html x2 12-b000ng
However, the virtual assistant says there no such pen exists. Could someone please advise?

The data for the pen was never in the expected location where the virtual agent knows to check.
Older computer and obsolete pen data.
The Virtual Agent can only search for products / answers that exist in its database. Smart search engine, the agent is not actually an AI that can make sense of "zero results" and react by expanding its search parameters. In other words, the HPVA cannot search outside its limitations.
Example of a computer in the Series:
HP Pavilion x2 Detach 12-b000na T1E48EA
Series released in January 2016
The information is here in the Service Guide:

HP active stylus pen 834590-001
Pen, like the computer, is older tech by now - five years is a long time for a part / device of this type.
Not sure you can find the part - and if you do so, it might be refurbished or lack a "new pen" warranty.

Thanks for that. HP parts surfer states:
Active pen (stylus)
Part 834590-001 is no longer supplied. Please order the replacement, 920839-001.
Is it sure to be backwards compatible across as laptops that used the older pen?

834590-001 Part is not orderable in the HP Parts Store. ACTIVE STYLUS Click to order the functional equivalent: 920839-001 |
My opinion
A mistake in the parts store is rare.
My opinion is (that) the data is accurate.
Having come this far trying to make it work,
If you can order the part from the store or elsewhere in your region
Do so and try it.
At this writing,
In the USA, the part lists as orderable from the HP Parts Store at $93 and change.
