Even though the keys are backlit I can barely see the letters, numbers and other designation on keys. I usually need to shine a light on the keys from above them to periodically check where what is. Help!!!

There is no real fix for this in that there is likely no magical way to make the keys easier to see.
Random Thoughts on the Subject of the Silver Keyboard
You could try a keyboard cover of some kind - online merchants carry these. Seems a clumsy method, but it might work.
You could perhaps have an artist paint the key edges black. Likely expensive, might look very fine.
In my personal opinion, this design is a very poor choice for anyone who needs to look at the keyboard to type. I have had two of these; I very much dislike the silver keys on the silver background - the keyboard looks nice and is yet completely impractical.
I do not see a "black keyboard" / top cover option in the Maintenance and Service Guide - Chapter 3, Page 14
Another Expert might easily be able to tell you whether there is a "black" keyboard from another notebook that would work.
HP might be able to help - it would not be a "free" fix since there is nothing wrong with wrong with the computer except you don't like it. Nonetheless, it might be worth the call -- It is not likely expensive if you average the cost over the expected lifetime of the product. Open a case, explain what you need and that you will pay for service / parts, ask for help.

If you purchased the computer directly from HP, and the return period has not expired (30 days?), you may be able to return the unit for another. You must contact HP for this - we are a volunteer organization; we have no direct contact with any HP services.
