My HP omen laptop has 144hz screen, but I am looking to connect to an external monitor. Will it run a 144hz gsync monitor using the mini display port?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Our other G-Sync monitor is the HP OMEN X Emperium. This is a massive, 65-inch gaming monitor that’ll give you the most expansive visuals possible. Just be sure to make some room on your desktop. With 4K resolution and refresh rates up to 144 Hz, you couldn’t find a grander and more visually-impressive monitor for your gaming rig.

To get the answer to this question, although it has USB type-C that supports 144Hz, G-Sync will not work! Do not confuse with the laptop monitor itself and with an external monitor. Here, you will see that Gsync is supported but not the case through the motherboard's external ports.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi echo_Lake,

So basically if I understand this, g sync external monitor will be no good as my graphics gard will not control g sync on a monitor through any port?

@echo_lake thanks for clearing that up I guess. So really speaking the 65" monitor you mentioned previously would have no benefit to me over a standard HD monitor running 60Hz
