Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP Envy laptop 17-cg1xxx.  The touch screen continually stops working and I have to fix it.  The process was to uninstall it an run the "Check for hardware changes" and it would come back but I can not get it to come back and I have tried everything.  WHERE CAN I FIND THE DRIVER AND WHY DOES IT KEEP STOP WORKING!!!!!

Help please

Hi @jmplatinum,

 Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy laptop's touch screen is malfunctioning, this guide will help address the issue and provide potential solutions:

  1. Update Windows:

    • Ensure your Windows 11 is up-to-date as updates often contain fixes for hardware-related issues:
      • Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
  2. Update Drivers Using Device Manager:

    • Open Device Manager by searching for it in the Start menu.
    • Expand Human Interface Devices.
    • Right-click on the "HID-compliant touch screen" and select Update driver.
    • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
  3. Re-enable the Touch Screen:

    • If the device is disabled, you can re-enable it:
      • Right-click on the "HID-compliant touch screen" in Device Manager and select Enable device.
  4. Reinstall the Touch Screen Driver:

    • In Device Manager, right-click on the "HID-compliant touch screen" and select Uninstall device.
    • Confirm the action, then reboot your laptop. Windows should reinstall the driver upon restart.
  5. Use HP Support Assistant:

  6. Run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter:

    • In Windows 11, right-click the Start button, select Settings, and navigate to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
    • Look for "Hardware and Devices" and run the troubleshooter.
  7. Check for System File Integrity:

    • Run the System File Checker tool:
      • Open Command Prompt as administrator and type sfc /scannow, then press Enter.
      • Wait for the process to complete and follow any given instructions.
  8. Reset the PC:

    • As a last resort, resetting your PC might solve the issue:
      • Go to Settings > System > Recovery > Reset this PC.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
