Hello folks,
I’m not sure if I just noticed it or if it’s something new, but there’s a yellowish bar-like area visible at the bottom of my screen. I thought it might be caused by overheating, so I turned off my laptop for a few hours to let it cool down, but the issue is still there. Do you think there’s anything I can do about it, or should I send it in for service? (My warranty is still valid.)

@tturgay, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
From the image and your description, the yellowish bar-like area at the bottom of the screen appears to be a localized discoloration, which is often caused by one of the following:
Possible Causes:
- LCD Panel Pressure or Flex Damage – If the screen has been pressed or flexed (e.g., during transport or cleaning), it can cause pressure marks or discoloration.
- Backlight Bleed or Uneven Diffusion – This can occur due to manufacturing inconsistencies or aging of the display.
- Heat Damage – While less common, prolonged exposure to heat can cause discoloration, though you mentioned cooling didn’t help.
Recommended Steps:
1. Run HP Display Diagnostics
Use HP's built-in diagnostics to confirm if the issue is hardware-related:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press Power + Esc to enter the Startup Menu.
- Press F2 to launch HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
- Select Display Test and follow the instructions.
2. Check in BIOS
Restart your laptop and enter BIOS (press Esc or F10 during boot). If the yellowish area is visible in BIOS, it confirms a hardware issue with the display.
3. External Monitor Test
Connect your laptop to an external monitor using HDMI. If the external display looks fine, the issue is isolated to your laptop’s screen.
If the issue persists, please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
Kindly follow this link to locate the nearest HP service center: HP® Servis Merkezi Konum Bulma - Türkiye | HP® Destek
(Select the country from the dropdown menu and enter the city name or pincode)
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
