After a windows 10 update about 6 weeks ago,  my pavilion developed the blue screen of death. After trying everything, I managed to load Windows 10 back on it, clearing everything on the computer.  Now however,  when I switch it on, the log on screen appears and the touchpad and pointer works, enabling me to point to the password area and type in the password using the attached keyboard. But, once into the home screen, nothing works, touchpad, pointer or keyboard.  Also the battery icon is missing, greyed out in the icon options and device manager and the audio has disappeared,  the volume icon has a red cross on it. I managed to find the bitlocker key to disable it in the bios to see if I could reinstall another windows 10, but that didn't work.  Still the same problems. However, if I plug in an external keyboard using the usb port, the touchpad and pointer works. As soon as you unplug the keyboard, everything stops again. Because it's an old computer,  there are no installs I can find. Could anyone please point me in the direction of downloads for drivers of installing touchpad, pointer,  audio and battery icon.

Thanks Alex

@ATommo, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

it looks like after a Windows 10 update and a clean reinstall, your HP Pavilion x2 Detachable (2015 model) has lost key hardware functionality due to missing or incompatible drivers. The symptoms point to:

  • Missing Intel chipset drivers (likely GPIO or I2C controllers),
  • Missing audio drivers,
  • Missing battery/ACPI drivers,
  • Possibly touchpad and HID drivers (common with I2C touchpads).

Here’s a step-by-step guide to fix this:

Identify Your Exact Model

We need your exact model number (e.g., HP Pavilion x2 10-n013dx) to get the right driver downloads.

To find it:

  • Look on the bottom of the device or under the kickstand.
  • Look for something like Model: 10-n0XX or 10-kXXX, or a product number like P0XXXUA#ABA.

Download Critical Drivers (Generic Links)

Until I get the exact model, here are the general HP Pavilion x2 (2015) driver packages you can try:

HP Pavilion x2 10 Drivers Page (Example):

HP Pavilion x2 Detachable PC Drivers - Support Page

Search by model here, then select Windows 10 64-bit.

Look for:

  • Intel Chipset Driver
  • Intel Serial IO / I2C Host Controller
  • Synaptics or ELAN Touchpad Driver
  • Intel SST Audio Driver
  • Intel Atom Platform Driver
  • Battery/ACPI Power Management drivers

Try Driver Packs from HP Recovery Image

If drivers are no longer listed on HP’s support page, here's a workaround:

HP Cloud Recovery Tool:

HP might still offer a recovery image for your model.

Download: HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Support

Use this to create a USB recovery drive — this includes factory drivers and firmware.

Battery Icon Missing (ACPI Driver)

If the battery icon is greyed out:

  • Check Device Manager > Batteries → if Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery is missing, install HP System Interface Foundation or ACPI drivers.
  • Also try: devmgmt.msc → Right-click > Scan for hardware changes.

Audio Icon Has Red X

Likely missing Intel SST Audio drivers or Realtek I2S driver. These are model-specific. Use the HP site or Microsoft Update Catalog.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Max. Thank you for your reply.  The only numbers I can find on the Pavilion is a tiny sticker with what looks like a QR code. The numbers on that are 784415-031 and underneath are

53V-007H-A01. There is a line underneath where the stand is affixed to the Pavilion going right across,  showing various symbols, but it's lost the ink and is unreadable. I can make out FC and before that things like a symbol for disposal, but other than that, nothing else. I've got the original box somewhere,  but it could take a while to find it.

I hope this helps.

Regards Alex
