Pro Tablet 408 Active Pen
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

As other before me I have bought a Pro Tablet active pen 408, which according to HP support would be compatible with the spectre x360 PC.

However, even after updating bios, installing the HP pen tool, trying to recalibrate, checking the battery, I do not manage to get this pen working on my laptop... Basically I get random touch point over the screen, but the pen does not draw a straight line, instead the screen recognizes the touch of my hand instead of the pen. The bottons on the pen also do not communicate with the laptop:

Could someone inform me how to pair this pen with the spectre 360x? Or is the support info on the compatibility simply wrong, and should I go for another pen.... ?

Thanks for your time,

Raoul

At this writing, there are seven Spectre models mentioned in the Compatibility document along with the recommended Stylus for the model.

Find a Stylus for your computer

First, find the computer's exact Model name:

HP Notebook PCs - How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

Active Stylus - Compatibility Document

Search the document for a compatible stylus:

HP PCs - Touchscreen Compatibility with Pen and Stylus

  • If there is an HP Active Stylus available for your model, it should be included in the document.
  • Pen(s) compatible with your computer are marked with an “X” to the right of your computer model, in the column(s) under the Pen name / description(s).
  • Additional information can sometimes be found in Advisory Documents for your computer.
  • The document is updated as new information becomes available.

If your Spectre matches one of the supported models in the document,

If you purchase a compatible stylus,

Let us know which pen you purchase,

We can check for a driver for that pen (not all pens require drivers).

OR

Check your computer's Software and Driver Website support page - if needed, the driver is sometimes listed.

Dear,

Thanks for your suggestions.

My HP x360 spectre has the model number: HP Spectre x360 - 13-ae047ng.

According to the link you send me the pro Tablet active pen 408, K8P73AA,  should be compatible with this laptop. If the issue is a driver as you suggested, please indicate me exactly where I can download a driver, on the product page for this pen it says there is no pen-iption. Also I already installed the Hp Pen-Tool, with no positive results.

Thanks again and looking forward,

best,

I am not seeing it.  Rats.

I found the "408" pen, of course,  I am not seeing it listed as compatible with Spectre x360 13-ae0

Both the drivers for the supported pens are listed in your computer's Software and Driver Website support page.

Software and Drivers - HP Spectre x360 - 13-ae047ng

Expand the driver list (click the boxes with the little + inside),

Search for Pen

Driver for the Tilt Pen (2MY21AA) and the HP Pen Control (1MR94AA) are listed.

I will take another look and see if I can reconcile that you are saying.
