Hi @kimmer27,

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand you’re trying to connect your 14" HP Chromebook to an Acer monitor, but it isn’t being recognized. Let’s go through the steps to troubleshoot this.
1. Check Chromebook Compatibility
Most Chromebooks support HDMI or USB-C to HDMI for external displays.
A simple USB-A to HDMI adapter may not work because USB-A does not carry video signals unless it’s a USB DisplayLink adapter.
Confirm whether your USB-to-HDMI cable/adapter supports video output on Chromebooks. If not, you’ll need a USB-C to HDMI adapter or a monitor with USB-C input.
2. Verify Monitor Input Settings
On your Acer monitor, check the input source.
Ensure it is set to the correct HDMI port you are connecting to.
Some monitors have multiple HDMI inputs and may need manual selection.
3. Use the Chromebook Display Settings
On your Chromebook, click the clock in the lower-right corner > Settings > Device > Displays.
Click Detect Displays to see if the monitor is recognized.
If it still doesn’t appear, the issue is likely with the adapter or cable.
4. Try a Direct HDMI or USB-C Connection
If your Chromebook has an HDMI port, connect the monitor directly with an HDMI cable.
If it only has USB-C, use a USB-C to HDMI adapter that supports video output.
5. Test with Another Monitor or Cable
Try connecting a different monitor or using another HDMI cable to rule out a faulty monitor or cable.
6. Restart the Chromebook
Sometimes the Chromebook needs a reboot to recognize new displays.
Power it off, reconnect the monitor, then turn it back on.I hope this helps.
