Hi @sabagerry,
Thank you for the response.
I understand your HP Envy x360 laptop is missing the brightness control in Settings. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.
Check if Windows is detecting the display properly
Go to Settings → System → Display.
If it shows “Display 1: Microsoft Basic Display Adapter,” your graphics driver isn’t loading correctly.
Reinstall the Graphics Driver
Open Device Manager → Display Adapters.
If you see Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, right-click → Update driver → Search automatically.
If you see Intel, AMD, or NVIDIA, right-click → Uninstall device (check “Delete driver software” if shown).
Restart your laptop — Windows will reinstall the correct driver automatically.
Install the Latest HP Graphics Drivers
Visit HP Support → Software & Drivers.
Search for your HP Envy x360 model.
Download and install the Intel Graphics, AMD Graphics, or NVIDIA Graphics drivers listed for your system.
Restart once done.
Run Windows Update
Go to Settings → Windows Update and install all available updates.
Brightness slider often reappears after the proper graphics package is installed.
Restore Power Options (If the slider is still missing)
Open Command Prompt as administrator.
Run: powercfg -restoredefaultschemes
Restart your laptop and check if the brightness slider returns.
Check for Adaptive Brightness Settings
Go to Settings → System → Display → Brightness.
Make sure Change brightness automatically is turned off, if visible.
This option can override the manual slider on some models.
I hope this helps.
