Hp notebook 15 bs150sa
I updated the BIOS using F2 - system diagnostics - update firmware. After updating, the laptop no longer boots and displays a black screen. I can hear the sound of the hard drive working. I flashed a bootable BIOS from the HP website and booted up while holding down the (Windows + B) keys after releasing the power button, but the screen remains black. Please, any solution would be highly appreciated.

@TKalaji, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Since your HP Notebook 15-bs150sa now has a black screen after a BIOS update and the standard Win + B recovery method hasn't worked, this points to a deeper issue like BIOS corruption or a failed flash.
Here’s a structured approach to try and recover your notebook:
Perform a Hard Reset
This ensures all power is drained and forces the system to reinitialize.
- Disconnect power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
- Reconnect only the power adapter (leave the battery out if removable).
- Try turning on the laptop again.
Retry BIOS Recovery
Sometimes, different HP models use different key combinations:
- Insert the USB stick with the correct BIOS recovery .bin file (downloaded from HP support site).
- Plug in the power adapter.
- Press and hold:
- Win + B,
- While holding, press and release the power button once.
- Continue holding the keys for 10–15 seconds, then release.
Watch and listen:
- If you hear beeping or see flashing lights, it means recovery is starting.
- If not, try the other key combo (Win+V if you tried Win+B, or vice versa).
External Monitor Check
Connect an external monitor or TV via HDMI to see if the internal display is dead but the system is still booting.
- If you see output externally, the internal screen might have failed during the update.
- Press Win + P multiple times and then Enter to switch display modes blindly.
CMOS Reset / BIOS Battery (Advanced)
If you're comfortable opening the laptop:
- Remove the bottom panel.
- Look for the CMOS battery (coin cell) on the motherboard.
- Disconnect it for 5–10 minutes to reset BIOS settings.
- Reconnect and reassemble.
- Power on again.
Recreate BIOS USB (Correctly)
Make sure you:
- Go to: support.hp.com
- Enter your serial or model number.
- Download the BIOS recovery tool for USB (usually ends in .exe).
- Run the .exe on a working Windows PC—it will extract and copy BIOS files to a USB drive.
Use a FAT32 formatted USB and try to use a USB 2.0 stick if possible.
