Problem: black screen
Comments: I hear and see the fan is running. I have hooked up external monitor and it is also a black screen. I have completed several hard resets but no results.
What are the possible problems? What are the fixes?
Thanks for any replies,

Hi
When do you usually get the "Black screen"? After logging in? Does it came with a white cursor?
If YES try these steps:
Press Ctrl+Shift+ESC to launch Task Manager or Ctrl+Alt+Del
Click File
Click Run
Type msconfig. System Configuration Utility will show up
Click Service
Uncheck App Readiness then click apply
Restart the computer
After the restart download the softpaq to permanently fix black screen
For HP.com , the softpaq was released as “HP Image Enhancement for System Logon” and could be found under the “Software-Solutions” category. Below is the reference link to download SP81965 for Kerberos 1.1:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-spectre-15-bl100-x360-convertible-pc/16779592
Or you could open HP Support Assistant app and look for updates and look for “HP Image Enhancement for System Logon” and install it.
After installing the Softpaq. Go back to msconfig then put a check mark to App Readiness App then click apply and okay.

ichi

Hi,
Thank you for further explaining whats going on. Have you tried running diagnostics? If not then boot your computer to start menu by shutting down the computer completely.
Press and hold down ESC then tap power button once
A Pop up window should appear (Start Menu)
Select F2 using arrow keys or F2 button
Run System test > Extensive Test > Run Once
Normally extensive test will run for 3-4 hours. Make sure the charger is connected during diagnostics
Please keep us posted.

ichi
