Hi @vicky159,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If both of your shift keys suddenly stopped working without any recent updates or software installations, there might be a few potential causes.

  • Physical Damage: Check if there's any physical damage to the keys or the keyboard itself. Spills or debris can cause keys to malfunction.
  • Keyboard Settings: Sometimes, keyboard settings can inadvertently disable certain keys. You can check this in your computer's settings.
  • Driver Issues: Even without recent updates, driver issues can occur. Try updating your keyboard drivers to see if that resolves the problem.
  • System Restart: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix minor issues like this by refreshing the system.
  • Hardware Malfunction: If none of the above solutions work, it's possible that there's a hardware malfunction with your keyboard.

Try these steps in order, and hopefully, you'll be able to identify and fix the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
