Hi @Nani228,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Which HP laptop model are you using?
  • Are you running Windows 10 or Windows 11 after the reset?
  • Do the brightness keys not respond at all, or do they show an on-screen indicator but the brightness doesn’t change?

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check Windows Updates
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and install any pending updates.
  2. Update HP Drivers
    • Visit HP Support Assistant (pre-installed on most HP laptops) and check for driver updates, especially the graphics driver and keyboard driver.
  3. Adjust Brightness Manually
    • Go to Settings > System > Display and try adjusting brightness using the slider.
    • If this works, the issue may be with the function key settings.
  4. Enable Hotkeys
    • On some HP laptops, brightness keys require the Action Keys setting to be enabled in BIOS.
    • Restart your laptop, press F10 to enter BIOS, and check under System Configuration for “Action Keys Mode.”
  5. Reinstall Graphics Driver
  • Open Device Manager > Display Adapters, right-click your graphics driver, and select Update driver.
  • If that doesn’t help, uninstall and reinstall the driver.

I hope this helps.
