Hi @Justin1982,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop camera is not being detected, here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve the issue.
Check Camera Privacy Settings
- Open Settings > Privacy > Camera.
- Make sure Camera access is turned on for the device and for the apps you want to use.
Restart Your Laptop
- Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve the issue.
Check Device Manager
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Look under Imaging devices or Cameras for your camera. If it's listed but has a yellow exclamation mark, right-click and select Update Driver or Uninstall device. Then restart the laptop, and the camera should reinstall automatically.
Enable Camera Using Function Key
- Some HP laptops have a function key (e.g., F8 or F10) that toggles the camera on or off. Ensure the camera is enabled by pressing the correct function key (usually marked with a camera icon).
Run Windows Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
- Select Camera and run the troubleshooter.
Check for Windows Updates
- Ensure that your Windows OS is up to date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Check for updates.
BIOS or UEFI Settings
- Enter the BIOS/UEFI by restarting your laptop and pressing F10 (or another key depending on your model). Check if the camera is enabled in the BIOS settings.
HP Camera Driver from HP Website
- Visit the HP support website and download the latest camera driver for your specific laptop model.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
