I have a HP ENVY 360 13" laptop with Windows 10 64bit OS

The camera is not recognized in either Device Manager under the Cameras heading and I've enabled the camera switch on the keyboard (the light is off)

I've ran Windows Update as well

Is there a specific driver for this camera/laptop model?

Thanks,

Rick Grill

Hi @RickGrill,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're dealing with a tricky issue. For your HP ENVY 360 13" laptop's camera not being recognized, here are a few steps to help troubleshoot:

Check Device Manager:

  • Right-click the Start button and select "Device Manager."
  • Look for "Imaging Devices" or "Cameras." If the camera is not listed, it might be an issue with the hardware connection or driver.

Enable the Camera:

  • In Device Manager, click "View" and select "Show hidden devices." Check if the camera appears and make sure it’s enabled.

Update or Reinstall the Driver:

  • If the camera appears in Device Manager, right-click it and select "Update driver."
  • Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software."
  • If that doesn’t work, try uninstalling the driver (right-click and select "Uninstall device"), then restart your laptop. Windows should attempt to reinstall the driver upon restart.

Check Privacy Settings:

  • Go to "Settings" > "Privacy" > "Camera."
  • Make sure "Allow apps to access your camera" is turned on. Also, check the list of apps to ensure the app you're using has permission to access the camera.

Function Key:

  • You mentioned enabling the camera switch on the keyboard. Ensure you’re using the correct function key (often labeled with a camera icon) and that it’s not disabled through a specific software or BIOS setting.

BIOS Settings:

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F2, F10, or Del during startup).
  • Look for settings related to the camera and ensure it is enabled.

Driver Download:

  • For specific drivers, go to HP’s official support website and search for your laptop model. Download and install any relevant drivers or BIOS updates for your camera.

Refer to this document:  Troubleshoot the webcam (Windows 11 and Windows 10)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
