Hi @vlmtaylor,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If the camera on your HP OmniBook 5 laptop isn’t working, here are the most accurate troubleshooting steps you can follow:

1. Check the Camera in Device Manager

  1. Press Windows + XDevice Manager.
  2. Expand Cameras or Imaging Devices
    • If you see an HP Wide Vision Camera or similar, check if there’s a yellow warning icon.
    • If missing, the driver may be uninstalled.

2. Reinstall or Update Camera Driver

  • Go to HP’s official driver page for your model: 👉 Official HP® Support
  • Download the Camera Driver or HP Universal Camera Driver.
  • Install and restart your laptop.

3. Enable Camera in Privacy Settings

  • Go to Settings → Privacy → Camera.
  • Ensure Allow apps to access your camera is turned ON.
  • Check if your app (Zoom, Teams, etc.) has permission.

4. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Press Esc repeatedly at startup → F2 for HP Diagnostics.
  • Run Component Tests → Camera.
  • If the test fails, it may be a hardware issue.

5. BIOS Check

  • Restart and press F10 for BIOS.
  • Under Security → Device Security, ensure the Integrated Camera is enabled.
