Hi @Meggonemad,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
To connect two external HDMI monitors to your 2025 HP Pavilion laptop (which lacks Thunderbolt), here’s what you need to know and do.
Check Your Laptop’s Available Ports
Most HP Pavilion laptops typically include:
- 1 HDMI port
- 1 or more USB-A ports
- 1 USB-C port (not Thunderbolt)
Since you only have one HDMI port, you’ll need an adapter or docking solution to connect a second HDMI monitor.
Option 1: USB-C to HDMI Adapter (if USB-C supports DisplayPort Alt Mode)
- Check if your USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode (video output).
- If yes, use a USB-C to HDMI adapter for the second monitor.
- Connect the first monitor directly to the HDMI port.
Option 2: USB Docking Station (DisplayLink-based)
If your USB-C port does not support video, or you only have a USB-A:
- Use a USB 3.0 docking station with dual HDMI outputs (DisplayLink technology).
- These stations use their own graphics chip to drive external displays.
Example: HP Universal Dock G2
Option 3: USB to HDMI Adapter (DisplayLink)
- Use a USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter for the second monitor.
- These are plug-and-play and work well for office tasks and video playback.
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
