HP Spectre x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a Spectre x360 notebook. Sometimes the cursor moves and jumps unintentionally and opens the files and folders located on the desktop without any control! In that case I should restart the system to work properly.

I have tested using both external mouse and touchpad. In both cases this problem happens.

Could anyone help me in solving this problem?

Welcome to the HP Support Community. 

 

To better assist you - May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

 

While you respond to that, try these steps -

 

Right click on the Start or Windows Icon and open "Settings" > "Devices" > "Touchpad" > change the sensitivity to low. 

 

Also, try updating the computer - 

 

Step 1 Windows Updates - 

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates. 
2) Check for updates. 
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer. 

 

Step 2 HP Support Assistant Updates - 

1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant. 
2) Check for updates. 
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer. 

 

If the issue still persists, try testing the touchscreen using these steps - 

 

1) Shutdown the computer. 
2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears. 
3) Press F2 once. 
4) Go to Component test. 
5) From the list, run the touchscreen test.

Hi Asmita,

Thanks very much for your answer.

- My model number is: 13-4116dx

- The touchpad sensitivity was on medium and I changed it to low now.

- My Windows 10 is updated currently. I installed the newest version (1903) and there is no further update available.

- I installed a few available HP Support Assistant updates as well and restarted my laptop.

 

It seems that my problem is solved now. As I have not seen those accidental movements of cursor since 2 days ago.

I will let you know if it comes back!
