HP Pavilion notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Apart from the whole laptop suddenly become slow and sluggish, whenever I try to use this on lifting the lid the screen comes on and immediately goes blank, this happens up to six times, the only way I could get this to work was to take the power lead out,  now this does not work either, it does also go off in the middle using this, and of course if the power gets low whilst using the laptop, I have to switch power on and the screen goes blank again,  I notice that this HP laptop is a Lenova, and if I had been told this when buying it, I would have preferred not to have done.  Sneaky of HP not to state this, I bought this direct from HP and not from a shop.

I trust a suitable reply will be forthcoming shortly

Hello, @Elaine24 – Hope you are well 🙂

Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a dynamite location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!

I understand that your notebook performance has gone down drastically. Do not worry, we will certainly do the best to try and help you out of the situation 🙂

Let's first try to run a system check to determine whether there is any hardware issue with your notebook.

  • Go to http://hp.care/2bjZGry and follow the instructions to run "HP PC Diagnostics UEFI"
  • Once you open the "HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI)" select "System Tests" and then select "Extensive test".

The System Extensive Test checks your system to make sure that the main components are functioning properly. It provides a more comprehensive test than the System Quick Test. These tests run consecutively through the listed components and can take 2 or more hours to complete.

If the System extensive test is passed, try the steps here: http://hp.care/2bFDPcU

Let me know the results. Good luck!

Cheers 🙂

The explanation seems to be working at least at the moment, and it has speeded up very very slightly, but there are other problems with the laptop which I can't bbe bothered to list, either I put up with it or scrap it, but thank you for sorting out I hope the problem of the screen continually going blank
