Hi @fielding2

Welcome to the HP Support Community! Thanks for posting your query!

I’m sorry you’re facing this—it must feel confusing when the laptop jumps straight into the browser and then doesn’t show your saved content or toolbar after closing the screen.

To guide you properly, I’ll need to understand a few details about how the system is behaving:

  • When you say it goes “straight to internet,” do you mean the laptop automatically opens a web browser like Edge or Chrome right after startup?
  • After closing the lid or screen, do you notice the laptop going into sleep mode, or does it stay powered on but lose the desktop/taskbar view?
  • Are you able to return to your saved files or desktop by pressing any keys, or does the display remain blank?
  • Which exact HP laptop model are you using, and is Windows 11 installed?
  • Have you already tried adjusting any power or startup settings in Windows?

With these details, we can narrow down whether the issue is related to startup programs, display settings, or power management. Could you share a bit more about what happens step by step when you switch on and then close the screen?

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye
