Hi @vicky832

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for describing the issue so clearly—and I’m genuinely sorry your mouse cursor keeps disappearing. This can be caused by display driver conflicts, touchpad settings, or cursor visibility glitches in Windows 11.

Let’s walk through a focused recovery sequence to help restore consistent cursor behavior.

Step-by-Step: Fix Disappearing Mouse Cursor in Windows 11

1. Wake the Cursor with Keyboard Shortcut

  • Press Ctrl + Alt + Del, then press Esc.
  • Move the mouse or touchpad.

This refreshes the display and often restores the cursor.

2. Check Pointer Visibility Settings

  • Press Windows + S, type Mouse settings, and open it.
  • Scroll down and click Additional mouse settings.
  • Go to the Pointer Options tab.
  • Uncheck:
    • “Hide pointer while typing”
  • Click Apply and OK.

This prevents the cursor from vanishing during input.

3. Update or Reinstall Display Driver

  • Press Windows + X > select Device Manager.
  • Expand Display adapters.
  • Right-click your graphics card > Update driver > Search automatically.
  • If the issue persists, right-click again > Uninstall device, then restart.

Display driver issues can cause cursor rendering faults.

4. Check Touchpad and Mouse Drivers

  • In Device Manager, expand Mice and other pointing devices.
  • Right-click your touchpad or mouse > Update driver.
  • If needed, uninstall and restart to reinstall automatically.

Faulty input drivers can cause cursor loss or erratic behavior.

5. Test in Safe Mode

  • Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
  • Go to Boot tab > check Safe boot > select Minimal > click OK and restart.
  • Observe cursor behavior.

If the cursor works in Safe Mode, a third-party app or driver may be interfering.

To exit Safe Mode:

  • Open msconfig again, uncheck Safe boot, and restart.

6. Connect External Mouse

  • Plug in a USB mouse and test cursor visibility.
  • If it works, the issue may be isolated to the touchpad or internal pointer settings.

This helps confirm whether the problem is hardware or software related.

Let me know how your system responds after these steps. If the cursor still disappears, I can guide you through checking display scaling or using HP diagnostics to test input devices.

You're doing everything right—this sequence should help restore smooth pointer control.
