display dims when power cord removed...No adaptive brightness control available

@TENPASTEIGHT You'll need to ensure the brightness is set to the same percentage for both, on battery and off battery usage:

To do this, press Windows key + R to open Run, input control panel, and click OK. Go to Hardware and Sound > Power Options and click Change plan settings next to your selected plan. Use the Adjust plan brightness slider to set your On battery and Plugged in levels. Once done, click Save changes.

I can follow this until I click change plan settings but there is no brightness slider control on the next screen or anywhere that I can see, Roger

@TENPASTEIGHT In that case, you may want to update the Graphics card, chipset drivers and the BIOS: click here to find and install the same,

If that doesn't work, create a new user account and check if that helps!
