My laptop only has HDMI but when i connect it to an external monitor, it flashes black in some times. I was wondering if I can use a type c to Display port or any adapter that will fix my problem such as hdmi to display port.

Normal DP-HDMI cable won't work, it only works one way. You need a BIDIRECTIONAL  cable to connect HDMI (source) to DP (monitor)

What is your 15 ec2xxx machine ? It should have same ports as the following machine

 

                  HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2021nr

 

It ONLY has 1 hopeless SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to

  • Charge your machine,
  • Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter (some hubs may have builtin chip to support this)

How do you connect your external monitor now ? Please use a better HDMI version 2 or above cable to connect.

Can I use an HDMI to DISPLAY PORT adapter? or cable? Because I have already HDMI 2.0 and it still flashes blackscreen and I cant seem to find which model i have, it only says Hp pavilion gaming laptop 15-ec2xxx. It has a 3050 RTX GPU and I don't know why it still flashes blackscreen on my external monitor. My external monitor is 144hz as well as the laptop.
