Hello. I have HP Pavilion dm3-2015er laptop. It is a great laptop, still working now, but I could not solve a solution with a driver for my graphics.

This laptop has HD4225 & HD5430.

"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4225 " = ati2mtag_RS880M_PXAA, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9712&SUBSYS_1482103C
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5430" = ati2mtag_Manhattan_PXAA, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_68E1&SUBSYS_1445103C

I have recovery partition with Windows 7 Home basic where the driver is working great.

But if I install Windows 8, I could not use switchable graphics anymore. However, the video is working fine, I can watch Youtube on Windows 8, no issue with that.

Can you send me the latest HP softpac for any HP laptop which has a video driver to support both video chips? I am searching for Windows 7 / 8 and in parallel dreaming to find a driver working in Windows 10 / 11.

HP cleaned its support website and now it does not recognize my model number anymore and there are no HP Pavilion dm3 laptops there.

Paul, thank you for the link. It really helped me. I could not find it via the search field on HP support website before.

I spend several hours trying different drivers on Windows 8 today and got it worked with switchable graphics!

The steps I did.

1) uninstalled all ATI/AMD drivers;

2) made it sure with AMD cleanup utility (v.1.2.1.0) to delete everything related;

3) restarted, got Windows WDM drivers;

4) installed AMD PCI Express (3GIO) Filter Driver 1.3.3.70 manually - NorthBridge driver;

5) installed original HP dm3 2015er softpac for graphics. Clicked Compatible mode (Win 7) - SP46648. Installed graphics drivers manually from the SP46648, I think;

6) rebooted. Graphics worked;

7) installed AMD Catalyst 12.6 Legacy win8 driver. It has a good driver for HD4225. Catalyst control center & graphics driver manually after;

😎 It already worked after restart. Graphics was switching somehow. But Windows experience index was the same when it is in High performance mode and low performance mode. But clicking the buttons in AMD PowerXpress field already worked. Sometimes with errors.

9) Then I downloaded Catalyst 13.9 Legacy from AMD support website. Package for Windows 7 and Vista (no Win 8). Installed a driver manually from there and Catalyst Control Center (2012.0704.122.388);

10) Everything works now. I can switch graphics both manually and automatic (when unplug power) and Windows Experience Index is different now.

Driver versions at the moment are: 8.970.100.1100 for HD4225 (29.04.2013) from AMD website and 8.930.0.0 for HD 5430 (05.12.2011).

I could still search for a fresher driver for HD5430

Hi:

The notebook was not supported by HP for W8/W8.1 or W10, so there weren't any switchable graphics drivers developed for W8/W8.1, W10/W11.

I don't know of any way to get the switchable graphics drivers to work other than on W7.

You can download the latest W7 drivers HP released for your notebook from the link below:

That's great news.

Glad you got the switchable graphics to work on W8 by using the W7 driver

Are you going to take a gamble trying to take the free update to W8 1?
