Hi @rithu123

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're dealing with persistent screen flickering and occasional blank screens, which can be caused by a variety of hardware or software issues. These types of problems are usually linked to either the display, graphics card, cables, or driver issues. Let’s go through some troubleshooting steps to help identify and hopefully resolve the issue.

1. Check the Display Cable and Connections

  • Loose or Damaged Cable: If you’re using an external monitor, start by checking the video cable (HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, etc.) between your PC and monitor. A loose or damaged cable could cause flickering and intermittent blank screens.
  • Try a Different Cable/Port: If possible, swap out the cable or try a different port on both the monitor and the PC. Sometimes, a failing port can cause similar issues.
  • Test Another Display: If you have access to another monitor or TV, try connecting your system to it. If the issue disappears on the second screen, the problem is likely with your original display.

2. Graphics Card (GPU) Issues

  • Overheating or Dust Buildup: If you're using a dedicated GPU (graphics card), it could be overheating or suffering from dust buildup. Overheating can cause screen flickering or blanking. Power off the PC, open it up, and clean out the dust using compressed air.
  • Reseat the GPU: If you’re using a discrete GPU, try reseating it. Power down the system, remove the GPU, and then carefully reinstall it to make sure it's properly connected to the motherboard.
  • Test with Integrated Graphics: If your CPU has integrated graphics, try connecting your monitor to the motherboard’s video output (instead of the discrete GPU) to see if the problem persists. If it stops, your discrete GPU might be the cause.

3. Update or Reinstall Graphics Drivers

  • Driver Updates: Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can lead to screen flickering, blank screens, or graphical artifacts. Check for the latest drivers for your GPU:
    • For NVIDIA or AMD GPUs, you can download drivers directly from their websites.
    • For Intel integrated graphics, visit Intel’s driver support page.
  • Clean Driver Installation: If updating the driver doesn’t help, you might want to uninstall the current driver completely using a tool like DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) and then reinstall the latest version.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
