Hi @13-bf0121tu,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Screen flickering and the display rolling down can be caused by several issues, such as

  1. Display Driver Issues
Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers often cause flickering.
  2. Refresh Rate or Resolution Settings
Incorrect settings can lead to instability.
  3. Loose Display Cable or Hardware Fault
Internal cable or panel issues can cause rolling or flickering.
  4. Software Conflicts
Background apps or malware can interfere with display rendering.

Steps to Fix

1. Update Graphics Drivers

  • On Windows:
    • Press Win + X → Device Manager → Display adapters.
    • Right-click your GPU → Update driver.
  • Or download the latest driver from HP Support or the GPU manufacturer (Intel/NVIDIA/AMD).

2. Check Refresh Rate

  • Go to Settings → Display → Advanced display settings.
  • Set refresh rate to the recommended value (usually 60Hz for laptops).

3. Disable Hardware Acceleration

  • In browsers or apps (like Chrome), disable hardware acceleration under Settings → Advanced → System.

4. Run HP Diagnostics

  • Use HP Hardware Diagnostics (built-in or downloadable from HP Support) to check display health.

5. Safe Mode Test

  • Boot into Safe Mode:
    • If flickering stops, it’s likely a driver/software issue.
    • If it continues, it may be hardware-related.

6. Check for Loose Connections

  • If comfortable, gently check the display cable inside the laptop (or have a technician do it).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
