Hi @CHROMEBOOKINDY,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.
To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?
Does the screen stay stuck in one orientation
Or does it rotate incorrectly
Or does nothing change at all
A few quick things you can try right now:
1.Check if Auto‑rotate is turned on
Sometimes rotation gets locked without warning.
- Flip the Chromebook into tablet mode
- Open the quick settings (bottom‑right corner)
- Look for the Auto‑rotate icon and make sure it’s enabled
2.Restart the Chromebook
A simple reboot often clears temporary sensor glitches.
3.Test the hinge and sensors
Try rotating the device slowly into different positions.
- If the keyboard stays active when flipped
- Or the screen never changes orientation
…it could indicate the hinge sensor isn’t being detected.
4.Reset system settings (non‑destructive)
- Go to Settings → Reset settings
- Choose Restore settings to their original defaults
I hope this helps.
I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster!
