Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-s1000 (90P69AV)

Hello! I'm having an issue with my HP Victus 16.1" AMD Ryzen7-8845HS and connecting my external monitor/pen display tablet (GAOMON PD1560) to it. It runs Windows 11, and I've surmised that it's likely an issue with either my drivers or my graphics card(?). I've already contacted Gaomon Support, and they've deduced the same issue that it's something up with my laptop instead of the tablet. That's about as far as I got in terms of troubleshooting. I've manually updated my drivers to their latest versions, as far as I can tell, in my attempts to resolve the issue.

It's not the HDMI port, my TV connects and outputs my laptop's screen through the HDMI port fine. It's not the external monitor (or any of its associated cords), as I've tested its connectivity and signal on two separate laptops (an HP Inspiron 15, 5000 series and a ASUS ROG-G15 Strix Advantage, both running Windows 11). The monitor works fine with both of the listed laptops.

In terms of the specific issue i'm having — the 'tablet' aspect of the monitor works fine, I can still press all of the shortcut keys and the stylus still responds to input + pen pressure. The actual 'monitor' aspect is kaput. All I'm getting is a 'No Signal' prompt. On any other laptop I've tested it on, the monitor immediately connects and displays.

I'm happy to provide more details if necessary!

Hi @vyvyvyvyvyvyvy,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you’re experiencing an issue where your GAOMON PD1560 pen display tablet connects to your HP Victus 16.1” laptop via HDMI, but while the tablet’s touch, pen, and shortcut keys work fine, the display itself shows ‘No Signal.’ Please note that support for 3rd party devices is limited.

1️. Check Display Settings

  • Right-click the desktop → Display settings
  • Under Multiple displays, click Detect
  • Make sure Extend these displays or Duplicate these displays is selected
(If it's set to ‘Show only on 1’, it won’t output to your GAOMON display.)

2. Use Windows Shortcut

Press Windows + P and toggle through:

  • Duplicate
  • Extend
  • Second screen only
See if your GAOMON display responds to any of those settings.

3. Check Display Output Compatibility

Victus laptops sometimes auto-prioritise certain HDMI protocols.
In AMD Radeon Software:

  • Go to Display → Check if the external display is detected
  • Try adjusting the colour depth, refresh rate, or HDCP settings for compatibility with the GAOMON display

4. Test with a Clean Boot

To rule out background conflicts:

  • Type msconfig in Windows search
  • Go to Services tab → Check Hide all Microsoft services → Click Disable all
  • Go to Startup tab → Open Task Manager → Disable all startup apps
  • Restart and test the GAOMON display connection again

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hellol! Forgive the title, I forgot to adjust the post's name prior to posting it. I understand 100% that third-party devices are limited, any input on how to resolve the issue is always appreciated.

My HP Victus 16.1 is still not detecting a second monitor. I also attempted a clean boot, to no avail. I don't see any prompts within the AMD Software app that mentions detecting a monitor. There doesn't seem to be much I could do within the Display Settings either.

Does it strictly have to be AMD? I see that by Display Adapters list in Device Manager lists both AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU. I'm still very stumped,

Thank you so much for helping!

Hi @vyvyvyvyvyvyvy,

Thank you for letting me know. Is it possible to swap with a different HDMI cable and check on the device, please,  and let me know what version of BIOS is also installed in the Pc.

Let me know

Hi!

I currently don't have any spare wires laying around that are compatible with the device (as it uses a 3-in-2 cable). I'll order a spare wire to make sure. I did perform several connectivity tests on two separate laptops.  I'll report back whether or not a new cable fixes the issue.

As for my BIOS, I have Insyde F.14 (1/13/2025) installed.

Hi @vyvyvyvyvyvyvy,

Thank you for reaching back and letting me know, I would request you to try the new cables as sometimes the 3-in-2 cable, may not be compatable,  Also I see a patch released for the BIOS same version please use the HP BIOS Page and update the febuary patch and let me know if this helps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

HI!
Encountering a new issue now unfortunately. It seems my laptop won't install the BIOS provided on the HP page (even though I don't receive any errors). It will process the update and say that it requires restarting, and then the BIOS screen will appear. After everything loads however, my system config doesn't show any signs of the update happening at all (it still only shows the old version of the BIOS).

@vyvyvyvyvyvyvy, @VikramTheGreat is away at this time, I'm replying on his behalf!

Thanks for the update, and I’m really sorry to hear you're hitting a new roadblock.

If your BIOS update seems to install but doesn't reflect any changes after reboot, here are a few quick things to try:

Run the BIOS update as Admin
Right-click the BIOS update file and select Run as administrator, just to make sure it has full permissions.

Use HP BIOS Update via HP Diagnostics

Turn off the laptop completely.

Press and hold Windows + B, then press the power button for 2–3 seconds while still holding Windows + B.

Release the keys when the BIOS update screen shows.
This can help force a BIOS flash if the normal method isn’t working.

Check Secure Boot or BitLocker
If BitLocker is enabled or Secure Boot is interfering, sometimes updates silently fail. Try temporarily disabling them and retry the update.

Let me know how that goes — and once the BIOS is sorted, we can revisit the GAOMON connection issue if it’s still persisting.

Take care and have a good day.
