Hi @w20grippy

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

What model HP PC are you using?

Refer to this document to know how to find the Product Name or Product Number.

  • Have you disabled the touchpad and check if the scrolling continues?
  • Refer to this document to know how to disable the touchpad.
  • Have you attempted to try with an alternate mouse to check if that works?

If you haven't, Please attempt using an alternate/external mouse.

(If that works when the touchpad is disabled on Synaptic software, it would mean that it's a touchpad failure,

However, if the external mouse doesn't work either, it could be a software/driver issue).

Check if page down or page up button is pressed.

Install updates using HP Support Assistant

  1. In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Check for updates.
  3. If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Note: If you do not have HP Support Assistant installed, Click here to download the same.

Make sure all pending windows updates are installed.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
