Hi @Mehdin0,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like Windows is automatically reinstalling the HID Event Filter driver after every reboot or sleep, causing your keyboard and touchpad to stop working. To prevent this from happening, try the following solutions.

Disable Automatic Driver Installation

  1. Press Windows + R, type sysdm.cpl, and hit Enter.
  2. Go to the Hardware tab and click Device Installation Settings.
  3. Select No (your device might not work as expected).
  4. Click Save Changes and OK.

This stops Windows from automatically reinstalling drivers.

Uninstall HID Event Filter & Block Windows from Reinstalling

Uninstall the driver:

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Human Interface Devices.
  • Right-click HID Event Filter and select Uninstall device.
  • Check Delete the driver software for this device (if available).
  • Click Uninstall and restart your laptop.

Use Group Policy Editor to block reinstallation:

  • Press Windows + R, type gpedit.msc, and hit Enter.
  • Navigate to:
Computer Configuration → Administrative Templates → System → Device Installation → Device Installation Restrictions
  • Double-click Prevent installation of devices that match any of these device IDs.
  • Select Enabled and click Show.
  • Open Device Manager, right-click on HID Event Filter, and go to PropertiesDetails.
  • Select Hardware IDs from the drop-down and copy the ID.
  • Paste it into the Show window in Group Policy Editor.
  • Click OK, then Apply, and restart.

Use Windows Update Show/Hide Tool

  1. Download the Show or Hide Updates tool from Microsoft:
  2. Run the tool and select Hide Updates.
  3. Find the HID Event Filter driver and select it.
  4. Click Next to block Windows from reinstalling it.

Update BIOS & Drivers (Alternative Fix)

If the HID Event Filter driver is causing problems, updating your BIOS and chipset drivers may resolve compatibility issues:

  • Go to HP’s official support website: HP Support
  • Enter your HP Spectre x360 - 15 model.
  • Download the latest BIOS and chipset drivers.
  • Install them and restart your laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
