Your machine does not have backlit keyboard, it only has a "Full-size island-style keyboard with integrated numeric keypad". Its specs:

Not all machines of the HP 15-ay000 Notebook PC series have backlit keyboard, what is your machine ? Does it have a key with backlit symbol/icon (normally f5) ?
