The JCD542 docking station is connected through the laptop's USB-C port. Everything seems to operate as expected, except: I have 2-27" HP monitors. Either will work just fine through the port on the docking station labeled 'HDMI". Neither will work through the port on the dock labeled "HDMI 4K". Before I go through the process of exchanging the docking station for a bad port, I'm trying to determine if I've not set something up correctly, or if maybe the laptop just won't run the monitors through the dock? Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

What is your machine ? Does it have USB-C port which supports Alt mode ? Please use the following way to find out:

From the title of my question: hp 17-cn0xxx Product ID 691L3UA#ABA. J5Create docking station JCD542. HDMI & HDMI 4k ports on dock.

From the item description on the receipt: HP - 17.3" FHD Laptop - 11th Generation Intel Core i7-1165G7 - 16GB RAM - 512GB SSD - Backlit Keyboard - 2 Year Warranty Care Pack - Windows 11. By HP. Item # 990008885. Model # 691L3UA#ABA.

HP 17" laptop. Model #17-cn0xxx. Product ID 691L3UA#ABA. The JCD542 docking station is connected to the laptop via the USB-C port. I do not know if the port supports ALT mode, and have not been able to find anything saying definitively yes or no.

I am trying to determine if the problem is with the HDMI 4k port on the docking station -- in which case I'll exchange it -- or if my laptop specs will require addressing my needs in another fashion.

Thank you.
