I have a hp 17-cn2165cl laptop that has a cracked screen. The laptop will power on on and operates normal through the HDMI port but the cracked laptop screen is black and apparently sustained damage to the backlight with the screen damage, but the screen does show that it is on if you shine a likht on the screen and shows a long crack running from the bottom right corner of the screen. I have not been able to get the laptop to see that display nor have I been able to find any specs for the laptop or a user manual. The display is a touch screen and i think is HD and I was wondering if I could replace this with a non touch screen of a higher resolution? I have been searching for a replacement display but with no luck so if anyone here has any suggestions I would be grateful. The unit has usb c super speed port and I would like to use it to support another external monitor as well as an ethernet port. I don't know if the usb c supports Alternate mode or whatever else it needs for that purpose. Thanks for any

Hi @James7453,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that this is a Hardware issue. Since the unit might need repair, I would request you to contact HP Phone support who can schedule a repair as per the warranty and the issue can be fixed.
For that to happen, we will give you additional instructions/information via Private Message.

I do not have any warranty on the laptop and plan to replace the display myself if I can find one on EBAY that would work. I did see a HD, Touch-On Panel #L22733-001 that was said to be the correct screen but I would like to upgrade the screen to a FHD display if it is possible with this unit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am thinking of trying a DisplayLink docking station to add the second monitor capability as I don't believe this laptop has the Alt mode to support video on the usb 3 connections. Thanks for any help. Jim
