Hi @onecard,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I Understand that your concern, don’t worry I will help you with this .

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  1. Are you connecting the MSI 250Hz display through the HP Docking Station G5, or directly to your device?
  2. When you say the mouse and keyboard are slow, are they connected to the docking station or directly to a PC/laptop?
  3. Is this setup connected to an HP laptop, or are you using the HP docking station with another device?
  4. Are you using HDMI, DisplayPort, or USB-C to connect the display?

This will help clarify whether the issue is with the docking station, the laptop/tablet, or the display itself.

 Few  troubleshooting steps:

1. Check display refresh settings

  • On Windows: Settings → System → Display → Advanced display settings → Refresh rate
  • Make sure it’s set to 250Hz if the monitor supports it.

2. Check the docking station limitations

  • Some HP docking stations only support certain resolutions and refresh rates over certain ports.

I hope this helps.

I am using a Red Magic Nova tablet and connecting it to an HP G5 dock (or adapter).

I connect this setup to an MSI monitor that supports 250\text{Hz}.

However, when I connect the tablet, it only displays at 60\text{Hz} on the monitor.

I tried another product, which is a Ugreen 4K@60\text{Hz} brand adapter, and this gave me a display output of 250\text{Hz} from the tablet to the monitor.

I don't know if this is a limitation imposed by the HP G5 dock or what I should do."

Hi @onecard,

Thanks for your response.

 few more details would help?

  •  Which exact HP G5 dock are you using (USB‑C G5, Thunderbolt G5, or Universal G5)
  • Does your Red Magic Nova tablet support DisplayPort Alt Mode, and if so, which version
  • Are you connecting the monitor through HDMI or DisplayPort on the dock
  • What resolution and refresh rate are you trying to run (e.g., 1080p 250 Hz or 1440p 250 Hz)

These details will help pinpoint whether the limitation is from the dock, the tablet, or the port type.

A few things you can try right now

1.Try using DisplayPort instead of HDMI

If your MSI monitor supports DisplayPort:

  • Use a USB‑C → DisplayPort cable directly
  • Avoid HDMI through the dock

DisplayPort usually supports higher refresh rates than HDMI on docks.

2. Test the tablet directly with a USB‑C → DP cable

Since the Ugreen adapter gave you 250 Hz, try a direct cable:

  • USB‑C (tablet) → DisplayPort (monitor)

This bypasses the dock entirely and removes bandwidth bottlenecks.

3. Check if the dock is using USB‑C “data mode” instead of “display mode”

Some docks reduce display bandwidth if:

  • USB devices are connected
  • The tablet only negotiates USB 2.0/3.0 instead of full DP Alt Mode

Disconnecting peripherals from the dock can sometimes increase display bandwidth.

4. Update the dock firmware (if available)

HP provides firmware updates for G5 docks through the https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers

I hope this helps.
