hp pavilion x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just got the hp pavilion x360 and every day the screen has been flickering. Some days more than others, but I cannot figure out how to make it stop. It doesn't matter if it's plugged in or not. The flicker is really quick, sometimes it seems like its moving horizontal, sometimes vertical. What kind of problem could this be and how to I make it stop?

Thank you for posting on HP Forums, MKazi is at your service.

I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP Pavilion x360 series laptop. I read that the screen flickers.

To assist you better, I would like to know the following information:

  • What is the exact laptop model no? This link will help you to find the model no: http://hp.care/2bygf7l
  • Did any hardware changes or updates happen on the laptop?
  • Does the screen flicker only while playing games or no matter what you do it still flickers.

Meanwhile, I did some research on this case and have a few suggestions to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Power off the laptop.
  • Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the AC adapter.
  • Do not power on the laptop yet.

Now let us check if the screen flickers in the BIOS or not by following the below steps:

  • Power on the laptop and immediately hit the f10 key repeatedly (7-8 times).
  • This should load the BIOS screen.
  • You may leave the laptop under observation in the BIOS screen and check if the screen flickers.
  • If the display flickers then it points towards a hardware issue with the laptop. In such a case you may reach out to our HP phone support team to check the available service options for your laptop.

In case the display doe snot flicker in the BIOS then you may try connecting an external monitor (if available) and check if the display on the external monitor is fine.

Also, please update the chipset and graphics drivers via this link: www.hp.com/drivers

I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Let me know the outcome.

Good luck! 🙂
