HP Spectre x360 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-eu0000 (7K632AV)

I have a stylus for hp specter x360 2024 model, and the pen can select and hover over everything but unable to click on anything. I tried hardware diagnosis and reinstall the drivers but that does not resolve the problem.

Please help me fix this problem

Hi @Thulasithan,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Spectre x360 stylus can hover and select but cannot click on anything, and hardware diagnosis and reinstalling drivers haven't resolved the issue, here are a few steps you can try.

Update Windows and Drivers:

  • Windows Update: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and ensure all updates are installed.
  • HP Support Assistant: Run the HP Support Assistant to check for any firmware or driver updates specifically for your laptop and stylus.

Calibrate the Pen:

  • Calibrate the touch screen for pen input:
    1. Type Calibrate in the Windows search bar and select Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input.
    2. Select the display if multiple monitors are used, and follow the instructions to recalibrate the pen.

Disable and Re-enable Pen Services:

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  • Scroll down and look for the Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service. Right-click, stop the service, then restart it.

Check Pen Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Pen & Windows Ink and make sure pen settings are configured properly.
  • Check if you can toggle the pen buttons' functions. Some pens have programmable buttons that might be assigned incorrectly.

Test Pen in Different Apps:

  • Test the pen in different apps like OneNote or Microsoft Whiteboard to check if the issue is app-specific. If it works elsewhere, the problem might be with the app you're trying to use.

Perform an SFC Scan:

  • Run the System File Checker to check for any corrupted system files that might affect pen input.
    1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
    2. Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
    3. Wait for the scan to complete and see if it detects and fixes any issues.

Test Pen on Another Device (If Available):

  • If possible, test the pen on another HP Spectre device to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the issue is with the pen or the device.

Factory Reset of Pen:

  • Some HP pens come with a reset option. Check the user manual or HP’s website for instructions on resetting your specific model of the stylus.

Check for a Windows Ink Conflict:

  • Ensure there is no third-party software conflicting with Windows Ink. Disable any non-essential software related to touch or pen input and check again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
