hp stream 11
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I am struggling to get my touchpad working again. I had this issue before and I was able to install a generic driver that someone else told me worked with this touchpad. However yesterday windows done its latest install of updates and has removed that driver and now im back to square one with touchpad not being recognised. Have heard a few people say that its the IO serial driver that is the problem however whenever i try to download this i get the message saying the platform is not supported,  I am thinking this is why the touchpad is not being picked up as I have downloaded the drivers. I am running a 32 bit windows on my stream and seems all the drivers provided are for 64 bits. Please help me

Hi:

What is the product number or full model # of your Stream 11?

The product number can normally be found on the same label as the serial number.

Please do not post the serial number.

Hi, Sheena:

You mentioned you are running W10 32 bit on your notebook and there are only 64 bit drivers listed on the support page.

I just explored the driver file contents of the W10 64 bit touchpad driver file on your PC's support page, and it also contains the 32 bit driver files.

So the only suggestion I can offer would be to reinstall the touchpad driver from your notebook's support page, which should install, since it is for both bit versions.

I have tried this on installing the driver for it it says no device found. It’s not even listing in the device manager. When I try to install the intel IO serial driver it says platform not recognised. From what I have been reading on here this driver is essential to getting the touch pad to work, but every time I try to install it says the platform is not supported. I believe this is the reason it’s not recognising the touchpad

It could be a hardware failure.

See if installing the latest Intel chipset driver for your notebook gets the hardware to show up.

The 2nd file down on the left is the auto install file.

If that doesn't work either, I suggest you back up any files you want to save, clean install W10 64 bit (since that is the supported OS), and during the installation process, delete all partitions on the hard drive, leaving just one, making sure it is at its maximum size.

This will allow you to have more free space on that tiny 32 GB hard drive for future windows updates and a couple of programs.

You can make your own W10 installation media as follows...

You can make a W10 USB flash drive installer with the Microsoft Media Creation Tool, using an 8 GB flash drive using another Windows PC, if your PC is not working.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.

Here are the steps to create the W10 USB flash drive installer...

Select Download tool now, and select Run.

If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.

On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.

Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10. You want 64 bit.

Select which media you want to use:

USB flash drive. Plug in a blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.

Then you can reinstall the drivers and available software from the PC's support page.
