hp victus laptop screen cover bulging out near the hinge

The hinge area is tearing up the plastic lid, splitting it up into 2 different sections. I have attached photos of the problem below.  It's sad that I purchased this laptop for college a little more than a year ago, but the warranty has already expired. Aside from the known product defect, the laptop has not been dropped or damaged. This is quite annoying; the damage develops with each use when I open and close the laptop, and I am concerned that it may eventually destroy the screen as well.  Kindly help me with this.

2. Select the country.

3. Enter the serial number of your device.

4. Select the country from the drop-down.

5. Click on "Show Options".

6. Fill out the web form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
