Hi @shivam_keshari,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're unable to control the brightness on your HP Victus laptop, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
Check Brightness Keys
Ensure that you're using the correct brightness control keys. On most HP laptops, these are function keys (e.g., F2 and F3). You may need to hold down the "Fn" key while pressing the brightness keys.
Update Display Drivers
Sometimes, outdated or corrupted display drivers can cause brightness control issues.
- Open Device Manager: Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager."
- Update Display Driver: Expand the "Display adapters" section, right-click your graphics card, and select "Update driver." Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software."
Adjust Brightness in Settings
Try adjusting the brightness from Windows settings.
- Open Settings: Press Win + I.
- Go to System > Display: Use the brightness slider under "Brightness and color."
Check Power Options
Ensure that your power plan settings allow brightness adjustments.
- Open Control Panel: Search for "Control Panel" in the Start menu.
- Go to Hardware and Sound > Power Options: Click on "Change plan settings" next to your selected plan, then "Change advanced power settings."
- Adjust Brightness: Expand the "Display" section and adjust the brightness settings.
Reinstall Monitor Driver
Reinstalling the monitor driver can sometimes help.
- Open Device Manager: As described earlier.
- Uninstall Monitor Driver: Expand the "Monitors" section, right-click on your monitor, and select "Uninstall device." Restart your laptop, and Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.

BIOS/UEFI Update
Updating your BIOS/UEFI can resolve various hardware compatibility issues.
- Check HP Support: Visit the HP Support website, enter your laptop model, and check for BIOS updates. Follow the instructions provided to update your BIOS.
HP Support Assistant
Use the HP Support Assistant to check for updates and troubleshoot issues.
- Open HP Support Assistant: Search for "HP Support Assistant" in the Start menu.
- Run Updates: Check for any updates and install them.
Windows Troubleshooter
Run the Windows Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.
- Open Troubleshooter: Search for "Troubleshoot settings" in the Start menu.
- Run Troubleshooter: Go to "Additional troubleshooters" and run the "Hardware and Devices" troubleshooter.
Reset Windows (Optional)
As a last resort, you can reset Windows. This should only be done if all other methods fail and you are comfortable with the process.
- Open Settings: Press Win + I.
- Go to Update & Security > Recovery: Under "Reset this PC," click "Get started" and follow the instructions. Make sure to back up your data beforehand.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
