Your Computer might not have a backlit keyboard.

What?

Not all computers come with this type of keyboard.

Backlit keyboard - if available on the model series - is often an optional feature that must be purchased with the computer OR perhaps added later (lots of work, but possible if supported and parts are available).

No icon for the backlit option on your keyboard = Your computer does not have a backlit keyboard.

Product Home

 Enter the device type and model name of your HP product

Open Category Setup and User Guides

Find, open, and read the Maintenance and Service Guide

Search for all instances of "backlit"

Remember >> Unless stated otherwise in the service manual, the computer must be disassembled to replace the keyboard.  This is not a "novice" level task.
