Hi @CR2026

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it must feel when the camera suddenly stops working, especially when you’ve already checked that access is turned on. Thank you for confirming that step—it helps narrow things down.

Let’s walk through a few detailed checks together to bring the camera back into action:

Check Camera Privacy Settings

  • Press Windows key + I to open Settings.
  • Go to Privacy & Security > Camera.
  • Ensure “Camera access” and “Let apps access your camera” are both turned on.
  • Scroll down and confirm Zoom is listed and enabled under “Let desktop apps access your camera.”

Verify Camera in Device Manager

  • Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
  • Expand “Cameras” or “Imaging devices.”
  • If your camera is listed, right-click it and choose “Enable device.”
  • If already enabled, select “Update driver” > “Search automatically for drivers.”

Test Camera in the HP App or Windows Camera

  • Open the Camera app from the Start menu.
  • If the camera works here, the issue may be app-specific.
  • If it doesn’t, continue with the next steps.

Restart Windows Camera Service

  • Press Windows key + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Locate “Windows Camera Frame Server.”
  • Right-click and select Restart.

Run Diagnose & Fix Tool

  • Open the HP Support Assistant from the Start menu.
  • Select your device, then choose “Troubleshooting and fixes.”
  • Run “Diagnose & Fix” to automatically check and repair camera-related issues.

Check Zoom Settings

  • Open Zoom, go to Settings > Video.
  • Ensure the correct camera is selected in the dropdown list.
  • Try toggling between available options if more than one is listed.

Restart Your PC

  • A simple restart often refreshes the camera connection and clears temporary conflicts.

If the camera still doesn’t respond after these steps, it may help to reinstall the camera driver from HP’s official site. You can enter your product details here: HP Software and Driver Downloads.

These steps should give the camera a fresh start and restore its connection for Zoom.
