Hi, since loading Win 10, computer works great except the inbuilt mouse and keyboard dont work. They work ok before windows loads and then lasts about a few mins after windows 10 is running then then no more.
HP only has drivers for Win 7 for this older little laptop. Anyone have a solution short of using Win 7 where they still work fine?
Thanks

I reviewed your post and I understand that the touchpad and the keyboard are not working after upgrading to Windows 10.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
What is the product number of your computer?
Meanwhile, I recommend you install all the Windows updates (including optional) and check if it helps. Usually, you get driver update in the Windows optional updates and check whether there are any drivers for the touchpad and the keyboard.
Here is how it is done.
- Select the Start (Windows) button from the bottom-left corner.
- Go to settings (gear icon).
- Select the Update and Security icon.
- Choose Windows Update tab in the sidebar (Circular arrows)
- Select Check for updates. If there is an available update, it will begin downloading automatically.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Hi i have a HP Pavilion DM1 small Laptop and already downloaded from the HP site the drivers ect for touchpad/keyboard/ inbilt wifi ect which is for win 7 as no listings for win 10 are available on HP site as i would expect given the laptop is 10 years old. So not "supported" for 10. however the drivers worked and it sort of works and is stable in 10 and perfect in win 7, but i just downloaded some more programs in win 10 and now lost keyboard/touchpad again. They work perfectly before windows starts just iffy in 10, so have to do the usual and tweak device manager and reload drivers and rollback/doable/uninstall and all that that people suggest.
I repair computers a lot so used to all this sort of thing and even registry changing too so know a bit , BUT not everything!! thats why i ask here
Can you guys at HP make up some drivers for this machine for 10? at least internal wifi/touchpad and keyboard/Wifi USB dongles too? as windows drivers are very hit and miss on 10 given thousands of diff computers old and new it has to work with.
I lucky, as this DMi only has 100 hours on it as previous owner dumped it when it wasnt set up correctly or with enough memory and was deathly slow, now i fixed all that but win 10 is always problematic as i have other desktops to such as the HP 8100 and the Wifi USB dongles i use struggle to stay connected for more than a few mins and i dont always have drivers disks for them and they are for 7 or 8 and not for 10 so will play up . Inbuilt Wifi on the MB is better but still that needs a driver and if none are made for 10 ,then you have possible conflicts too. the 7 drivers seems to work in 10 sort of??
Summary- I have a whole bunch of diff HP machines and if you guys could make Win 10 drivers for them even if they are 10 years old and 2013 too!, that be great.
HP Pavilion DM1 -4108, HP 8100 SFF, and others i have too but they have win 10 drivers on site so thats ok,
Those 2 models would be helpful for me and others that still use these older but good strong computers.
Thanks
PS. i worked for HP in Brisbane a decade ago but not in computer area and liked it.

As you have mentioned that the keyboard works before logging into Windows. I recommend you check whether you have enabled the Filter keys option, i yes, just disable it and the problem should be solved.
Here is how it is done.
In Windows 10, open Start menu, click Settings -> Ease of Access. Click Make the keyboard easier to use (or Keyboard, toggle Use Filter Keys). Uncheck Turn on Filter Keys and click OK to turn off (check to turn on).

Hi, i went in and both "turn on Toggle keys and turn on filter keys " are already NOT checked
However the box "turn on toggle keys by holding down the numlock key for 5 secs " IS Checked
Should that be unchecked too?

Problem has occurred again after a hour. Both keyboard and touchpad frozen and even a restart hasnt fixed it. had to plug in usb for both and that works great. Touchpad works ok before windows starts, but after restart and windows 10 loads, no go again. Got to be a win 10 drivers compatibility issue and starting to feel like Vista again with all the comparability that people found. why would they work for a while in win 10 then fail??
tried another restart and now the cursur will move!! Seems a little hit and miss haha.
If i cant get this to work reliably with 10 will have to start 7 and just use that as that what HP drivers are for 7 64 bit , theres no 10 drivers for this model. sigh...

I recommend you install Windows 7 on the computer as the drivers for Windows 10 are not available. Alternately, you can continue using Windows 10 with an external keyboard and after a Windows update, the driver issue should be fixed.
