Hi @krrrrr,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for sharing the issue. Based on your description, your Victus by HP 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb2000 (9V7M9AV) is experiencing keyboard input lag and character repetition, such as:

  • You have to press a key multiple times for it to register.
  • When you press a new key, it types the previous character instead.
  1. This is likely caused by Keyboard Driver Glitch or Corruption, Sticky Keys or Filter Keys Enabled, or Background Software Interference.

Step-by-Step Fix:

1. Check for Sticky/Filter Keys

  • Go to Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard.
  • Turn off:
    • Sticky Keys
    • Filter Keys
    • Toggle Keys

2. Update or Reinstall Keyboard Driver

  • Press Win + X → Device Manager.
  • Expand Keyboards.
  • Right-click your keyboard → Uninstall device.
  • Restart your laptop — Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

3. Update BIOS and Firmware

4. Test in BIOS or UEFI

  • Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly, then F10 to enter BIOS.
  • Try typing in a field (like password or system name) to see if the issue persists.
    • If it does, it's likely a hardware issue.
    • If it doesn’t, it’s likely a Windows or driver issue.

5. External Keyboard Test

  • Connect a USB or Bluetooth keyboard.
  • If it works fine, your laptop’s built-in keyboard may need servicing.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
