Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

my laptop was working fine until it started displaying vertical white/coloured lines on the display. the longer I left it the more visible the lines became and the whole screen would turn a hazy white. if I put my laptop to sleep then open it again, the lines disappear but sometimes the lines would stay then slowly disappear themselves, then come back after 10 minutes. 

 

I have updated drivers, software updates and run through the BIOS. would this be a hardware problem then?

the first image in the link shows what I first saw, then after a while it shows in the 2nd pic, then a bit after that it turns into the 3rd pic.
