HP Pavilion x360 - 14m-cd0003dx
Microsoft Windows 11

My laptop has an Intel® UHD Graphics 620 graphics card which has a max resolution of 4096 x 2304. The laptop display settings lists a max  resolution of 1920x1080.

Will this laptop support an external monitor with 2560x1440p resolution? I wasn't sure if the unit senses the monitor capabilities and adds more display setting options, or does the unit not allow full use of the graphics card installed (BIOS setting?). Thanks

Its specs

      https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-14m-cd0000-x360-convertible-pc/20283986/model/21837...

It has

  • 1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data transfer up to 5 Gb/s);
  • 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Data Transfer Only);
  • 1 HDMI;
  • 1 headphone/microphone combo

Its HDMI port is HDMI v1.4 supporting up to 1920×1080 @ 60Hz. If you wish to get more resolution for external monitor you need an USB-A Displaylink Certified adapter such as

Regards.

Thanks, very helpful.

It looks like the recommended device is just an adaptor, not some kind of up-scaler.

So would any USB-A or USB-C to HDMI adaptor (rated for 4K, 60Hz) work? I see some for that much less expensive (ex. Insignia NS-PA3CHD). Looking at either LG 24QP500-B or INNOCN 24D1Q monitors.

Also, so when I connect the 1440p monitor using one of these adaptors, will the laptop display settings then show 1440 as one of the options?

Thanks again for your help.
