Hi @Ayyoun,

Thank you for replying,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

After reviewing your post, I did check the product specification and found that power supply shipped with the PC is 120 W AC power adapter and this is the recommended power supply for your PC. You can go ahead and use a 150 W AC power adapter. only thing is it should be a HP Compatible charger.

I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need any further assistance.

Hi @Ayyoun,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community! As I understand you having issues with the system lags while playing games, don't worry we'll work together to find a solution for you.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Does it happen only while playing games?

Have you tried to update the Bios as well as drivers for your PC?

Have you tried to reduce the resolution of the game?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the notebook: A power reset (or hard restart) clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data. Performing a power reset might fix conditions such as Windows not responding, a blank display, software freezing, keyboard stops responding, or other external devices locking up.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to update the Bios, Chipset drivers as well as graphics card drivers from our HP support website, using this link.

Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.

If you have followed the steps suggested and still having the issue, I would suggest you follow this steps as well

Right-click your desktop background and select NVIDIA Control Panel. You can also find this tool by performing a Start menu (or Start screen) search for NVIDIA Control Panel or by right-clicking the NVIDIA icon in your system tray and selecting Open NVIDIA Control Panel.

To quickly set a system-wide preference, you could use the Adjust image settings with the preview option. For example, if you have old hardware that struggles to play the games you want to play, you may want to select “Use my preference emphasizing” and move the slider all the way to “Performance.” This trades graphics quality for an increased frame rate.

By default, the “Use the advanced 3D image settings” option is selected. You can select Manage 3D settings and change advanced settings for all programs otry rnning n your computer or just for specific games. NVIDIA keeps a database of the optimal settings for various games, but you’re free to tweak individual settings here. Just mouse-over an option for an explanation of what it does.

If you have a laptop with NVIDIA Optimus technology — that is, both NVIDIA and Intel graphics — this is the same place you can choose which applications will use the NVIDIA hardware and which will use the Intel hardware.

For more assistance, please check a similar HP Forums post (Resolved): Click here

(Though the header is different the steps will help get you a fix).

If you have followed the steps suggested and still having the issue, I would suggest you run an extensive test on the System diagnostics from F2 (Please capture the failure ID for further assistance).

Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again

Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

I had some lag issues with my Omen 17-w033dx, and found some other links online that indicated my laptop should be using a 150w adapter, though it shipped with a 120w adapter.

Specifically, the other threads refer to the fact that if you read HP's "OMEN by Laptop PC, Models 17-w001 through 17-w099...Maintenance and Service Guide" (available on the HP support site), on physical page 26 (page 38 if you're scrowling in an app), under Miscellaneous Parts, AC adapter, it states:

"150 w PFC, Smart, slim, 4.5 mm (for use with products with NVIDIA N1 16E-GR (965M)..."

The 120 w adapter is for another NVIDIA.

I think HP shipped the Omens with the 120 w adapter because, on page 5 (pg 16) of the same Guide, both the 120 and 150 w adapters have checkmarks in the 965M column.  But this is clearly contradicted by the quotation above.  HP's own requirements say to use the 150 w adapter with a 965M.

I have an HP CarePack, and when I called with this question, the excellent service rep (Art) at first said that his info showed the 120 w adapter as being standard equpiment for the Omen 17-w033dx.  But when I directed him to the pages on the Service Guide, he did additional research and found that he was able to order the 150 w adapter as a replacement.  It's being shipped to me tomorrow.

So, your question about the 150 w adapter was valid.  I'd pursue it further.

he thanks for u reply lamenta
i had my speculations about this issue nd knew the psu had something to do with performance
so i have asked my local reteller to order me a 150w charger but its pin is different
he said and i quote
"The pin dosent matter.the volts and the ampere does and when it arrives i will change its pin to ur omen one and it will work just fine"
so any views on this matter?

My replacement 150w adapter arrived today (HP Part no. 775626-003, if I'm reading the shipping receipt correctly).  There was no problem with the "pin."
