Hi @saul23,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

To help us understand why the touchpad is not working, please provide the following details:

  • Exact HP laptop model or product number
  • Operating system and version
  • Is the touchpad completely unresponsive, or do the pointer and buttons work intermittently?
  • Did the issue begin after a Windows, driver, or BIOS update?
  • Does an external USB or Bluetooth mouse work?
  • Is there an indicator light in the upper-left corner of the touchpad?
  • Does the touchpad appear under Device Manager > Mice and other pointing devices or Human Interface Devices?
  • Are there any warning symbols or error codes in Device Manager?
  • Have you already restarted the laptop or tried enabling the touchpad using the keyboard shortcut?

Please also confirm whether the touchpad works in the BIOS or HP Hardware Diagnostics environment. This will help determine whether the issue is related to Windows and its drivers or requires hardware inspection.

Do not share the serial number publicly. The full model or product number is sufficient for us to locate the correct troubleshooting steps and drivers.

I'm an HP Employee.
