Hi @pc7889,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop's screen flickering!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these solutions:

 Restart Your Laptop

A simple restart can sometimes fix display glitches.

 Update Display Drivers

  1. Right-click the Start button → Select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Display Adapters.
  3. Right-click your GPU (NVIDIA/AMD) → Click Update Driver → Choose Search automatically for drivers.
  4. Do the same for Integrated Graphics (AMD Radeon/Intel UHD Graphics) if available.

Alternatively, download the latest drivers from:

Change Refresh Rate

  1. Go to SettingsSystemDisplay.
  2. Click Advanced display settings.
  3. Change the refresh rate (try 60Hz or higher if available).

Disable Hardware Acceleration (for apps like Chrome, Edge)

  • Open Chrome/Edge → Go to SettingsSystem.
  • Turn off Use hardware acceleration when available → Restart the browser.

 Check for Windows Updates

  1. Go to SettingsWindows Update.
  2. Click Check for updates and install any pending updates.

Boot in Safe Mode (to check if a software issue is causing it)

  1. Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
  2. Go to the Boot tab → Check Safe Boot → Restart your PC.
  3. If the flickering stops in Safe Mode, a third-party app or driver is causing the issue.

Try an External Monitor

  • If the flickering happens only on your laptop screen, it might be a hardware issue (loose display cable or screen issue).
  • If it also flickers on an external monitor, it's likely a software or GPU issue.

Perform a System Restore (if issue started recently)

  1. Search for "Create a restore point" in the Start menu.
  2. Click System Restore and choose a restore point before the flickering started.

If the issue persists, it could be a hardware problem (faulty screen, ribbon cable, or GPU). Let me know if you need more help! 😊

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?"—your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀
