The cursor was on screen when I closed computer. Next time i logged on it was gone. I haved looked in mouse settings to see what to do and it appears it is busy or working in background--as I am typing this there is a blue circle underneath the words. Use default is shaded out if that means anything. (I have clicked on OK for normal select, but that doesn't do anything . Help-I want my arrow back. Thanks for any help I can get.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.
I have gone through your Post and would like to help
Please update or uninstall the Touchpad driver and restart the Notebook
- Select the Start button, type Device Manager, and select it from the list of results.
- Look for Mice and other pointing devices and expand the List
- Look for Touchpad driver then right-click it, and select Update Driver.
- Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
- If these steps don't work, try reinstalling the driver: Open Device Manager, right-click the Touchpad driver and select Uninstall. Restart your PC and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
Also update the BIOS from this Link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers
Keep me posted how it goes
Thank you and have a great day 😊

Thanks Krazy Toad. I have looked and there is no Mice and pointing devices. Seems to be in alphabetical order and goes from keyboard to memory technology devices. So I am stuck and can't go further. Any suggestions? I have a touch screen so that has been how I am able to manage lately without a pointer but I need to get it back! Can you help me? Thanks in advance.

May I know the Operating System installed on your Notebook?
If possible please send me a picture of the drivers available in Device Manager
Thank you

Yay! I have found "hidden" mice & other pointing device and there is an orange triangle flag next to synaptics smbus touchpad.I click this and under general tab it says this device is not present, is not working properly, or does not haveall its drivers installed code 24. Then I click driver & click search auto. for updated driver. Then I get best driver is already installed. At this point do I uninstall? I guess I am hesitant to do this-novice here! If so do I check the box that says delete driver software & then click uninstall? What happens then?? Your original chat said after I restart windows will attempt to reinstall---what happens if it doesn't? You are certainly teaching me about this computer. Thanks, again

Uninstall the Touchpad driver and ensure you check the box that says delete driver and software.
Once the uninstall is done, restart the Notebook and Windows should automatically detect the drivers once again

Thanks Krazy Toad for sticking with me. I did the uninstall and restarted computer but that did not do the trick. I still have something wrong-still see the orange/yellow triangle with ! but do not see the cursor. Can you suggest anything else? Today is my birthday and "all I want is my cursor back"! LOL

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! Thanks hp support for helping me solve this pointer issue. After following all your update/uninstall/reinstall/restarting etc. steps I ultimately did a bios update and it worked like magic. I now have a pointer again. I never could have done it without your help. Thanks especially Krazy Toad and asmita6658.
